ROGERS ENGINEERS TRAILER FOR CARIBBEAN ISLAND NATION
Albion, PA — Rogers Brothers Corporation was recently approached to solve the hauling problems encountered in transporting construction equipment on a small island in the Caribbean. The equipment to be hauled required an 85-ton capacity trailer, but the customer needed the trailer to be as short and narrow as possible.
To meet these requirements, Rogers® designed a trailer with a 9' by 26' deck and an overall length of 52'-2" with a 3-axle detachable rear frame. The four-beam camber deck has a 170,000 lb. maximum capacity in 13' of deck space. Special features for back-up safety included; an electric back-up alarm, a modified under-ride guard to protect the axle and a color TV camera installed on the rear to allow the driver a clear view behind the trailer. The three axles were fitted with 315/80R radial tires on a spring/walking beam suspension.
The trailer featured Rogers patented No Foot® non-ground engaging gooseneck, removable swinging side brackets, a gas engine hydraulic power source and a set of 10 LED oval amber strobe lights. Other optional equipment included steel-covered front folding ramps, two toolboxes in the front and rear of the trailer deck and a ramp with grouser bars ahead of the tires. To finish the trailer the customer chose a slate gray metallic custom paint job.
